Conversations with Zavion...

It's hard to believe my little man will be FIVE next month! And, also hard to believe I've been doing these since he was three! Wow, time has just flown by and while I sometimes wish I could just freeze everything, I am really enjoying watching him grow and learn.

So, stay tuned for next month's special feature 'A Week Of Zavion.' I'm planning on blogging about my special guy every day of his birthday week, so Sun Oct 17th to Sun Oct 24th (his birthday is the 19th). I have lots of fun blogs planned, so make sure to some back to check it out!

In the meantime...here's your latest Conversations with Zavion...

Z: I'd like to live in an apple tree.

M: Ok...why?

Z: Because it would be fun to live in an apple tree.

M: Why would it be fun to live in an apple tree?

Z: Because if you water the tree, you will get lots of apples and then you can eat apples all the time. You could eat your own house!!

Z: Mom, I want to be a car fixer when I grow up. I think people need car fixers, like if their air conditioning breaks or if their wheel falls off. Do you think car fixers make lots of money?

M: Hmmm...I don't know... But, how about a lawyer? They make lots of money! (Hey, a mom has to try right?)

Z: Ok, but what does a lawyer do?

M: Uhh...they argue with other lawyers & help people (It was the best I could do on the spot!)

Z: Well, I don't want to make people mad! 'Cause when I argue with you, I make you mad!

Z: Ewww!! Something stinks!

M: Yea, I think Avalee just pooped.

Z: I think Avalee just downloaded a game called, 'Stink Up the Room!'

Conversations with Zavion...

I love my boy. Love, love LOVE!! He is just one of the most amazing, creative, talented, thoughtful, loving person I have ever known. And, I love the things he comes up with. He is so incredibly smart and inquisitive, and it makes me proud that he loves learning as much as he does.
I truly wish I could write down all the wonderful questions he asks or the awesome conversations we have, but there just isn't enough time in the day! So, here are some of his most recent...

Why is the sky blue?

Mom, you will always be in my heart (Umm...swoooon, right??).

Mom, who made the sky? And, who made the clouds? And, who made space?

Guys, Baryonyx (dinosaur) is the worst meat-eater yet! Good thing he's dead. I wouldn't want him to eat us!

Z: Are dogs meat?
C: Yeah, they have meat on them.
Z: Then, why don't we eat dogs?

Colin and Z were arguing about something Z was trying to get just right...
C: Nobody's perfect, Z.
Z: Uh-huh! Mom is!

Conversations with Zavion...

My boy is growing up and has just been full of the most amazing questions, observations and of course meaningful conversations. Here a just a few of the questions he has asked me or Colin recently...

“Who made space?”

“Why are there so many colors in the world?”

“Why are we made of skin?”

“How does the Earth make things?”

Smart kid, right? I'm just so proud of my little thinker and would like to think all the reading we've done (from pre-birth on!) has been a bit of an influence. ;0)

Here are some of my favorite recent conversations...

Z: Mom, are batteries made of glass?
M: Uh, no, they're not.
Z: *sigh* I wish they were.

Colin had dropped something and said, “Great job Colin.”
Z: (very earnestly) Good job, Dad!
C: I was being sarcastic.
Z: Ohh. Mom is sarcastic sometimes...when she's mad.

I put on my new sweater and asked Z how I looked..
Z: Oh, oh, oh! *giggling ensued*
M: What...?
Z: You just look so...so...AWESOME!
M: Aww, thanks buddy!
Z: Oh my gosh, I just don't want you to return it...It's SO awesome!

Z came out in a Jason-like Halloween mask...
C: Oh my gosh, what did you do with my son?
Z: I ATE him!
M: What?? Why would you eat a little boy?!
Z: Because, they're tastier than adults!

Conversations with Zavion

I know it's been awhile for an installment of these, but this one is worth it....

Z: Can we go to Burger King for lunch?
M: Silence
Z: We have the money.
M: Do we? How do you know?
Z: Well, we can ask someone for money...
M: Really? Who?
Z: Can I have some money to go to Burger King?

************************************************************

M: Where is my double-sticky tape? Has anyone seen my double-sticky tape?
Z: Mom, you're a magician!
M: I am? Why?
Z: Because, you can make tape disappear!

Ohh, how I love my boy! He's so quick now and obviously quite the smart-aleck. We're gonna have fun when this one starts school! ;0)

Conversations with Zavion

It's been awhile for one of these, and I think about time!
Z is getting smarter by the day (heck even the minute), which means lots of interesting questions, musings and/or conversations. These are so frequent nowadays, that I have a hard time keeping track of all of it.
However, I manage to write a few down, and here are some faves...

Colin and I were watching TV one night while Z was going to bed. He was in bed with his music on trying very hard to get to sleep, but it was taking longer than usual. After awhile, we heard him call out, so Colin went into his room. Colin asked him if he needed something and Z said no. Colin said he thought he called us, and Z says:
"Well, it's just that your TV sound is getting into my music."
Hahaha! Well, of course we turned our TV down. :)

I was humming along to 'A Bicycle Built For Two' and Z asked what I was singing. I couldn't remember the name of the song, so told him I was trying to remember it.

Z: Is it the car song?

M: Which car song?

Z: You know..the car song!

M: Aaaah (racking my brain, trying to figure out if the song is indeed about a car)

Z: Mom, is it the car song about fighting?

M: Fighting?? What?!

Then, I realize he's referring to the Pink song, "I'm Yours..."

Na na na na na na
Na na na na na
Na na na na na na
Na na na na na

I guess I just lost my husband
I don't know where he went
So I'm gonna drink my money
I'm not gonna pay his rent (nope)
I've got a brand new attitude,
And I'm gonna wear it tonight
I'm gonna get in trouble
I wanna start a fight

Na na na na na
I wanna start a fight
Na na na na na
I wanna start a fight

So, now I've realized my days of listening to my radio are over. Raffi, here I come. Crap.

Conversations with Zavion

He got to pick out brand new underwear as a reward for being potty trained. Of course, he chose Superhero underwear and, of course, Superman was his favorite.
One morning, I got out a pair of underwear for him that had Batman on them…

Z: I don’t want these; I want Superman!
M: Superman is in the laundry. These are Batman, and he’s cool too.
Z: No, Superman is better!!
M: Batman is just as good (in my heart, knowing this is not true, of course…LOL!).
Z: No, Batman doesn’t have red rocketship boots like Superman.
M: But, he has a cool car and plane.
Z: But, he can’t fly like Superman.
M: That’s true…but, put on the underwear anyway.

“Look at the moon! It’s smiling at me! It’s saying, ‘Hi Mr. Zavion!’”

I caught him getting into candy and said, “nuh uh.” He said, “I wasn’t stealing candy Mom. I was just checking to make sure everything was okay.”

Conversations with Zavion

Conversations with Zavion

One of the best things about having a three year old are the conversations that go along with that. The three year old mind is so fascinating to me, and some of my most favorite moments are of those listening to or conversing with Z.
Now, I truly believe Zavion is smarter than the average bear (nothing like being modest, huh? LOL!), so along with the normal three year old stuff, comes some amazingly perceptive, intelligent and even witty banter.
I've always tried to record these conversations and/or stories, so we can look back on them later. I've decided to share some of these here on the blog, and I am going to share these as a regular installment here.

Here are a couple to start with...

Z is eating lunch and I'm sitting at the table with him, holding Avalee. After staring at her for several seconds...
Z: Mom, does Avalee come from a planet?
M: She lives on the plant Earth. We all do.
Z: I don't live on Earth!
M: Where do you live then?
Z: I live on Jupiter! And, Mom? Can I go to Mars on a rocket ship?
M: Maybe someday you can...
Z: Mom, do you want to come with me? And, does Avalee want to come too? Do you want to share a red rocket ship seat with me?
M: I'd love to! :D

We're at Grandma and Grandpa's house, and Z is helping Grandma make dinner. A can of corn was starting to fall off the counter and Z caught it.
Grandma thanked him and told him he was her hero! Zavion says; “I'm not a Superhero. Superman saves people, I save corn!”
